Brandy Poke in the Eye

Hello Friends,
Here's a recipe for a
cocktail Michele created.

Sugar Cane Brandy Poke in the Eye

Ingredients:
10 oz glass tumbler
½ measure fresh lime juice
2 tsp Splenda sugar substitute (4 sachets)
1 measure Mount Gay Barbados Sugar Cane Brandy
125 ml (8 oz) chilled soda water
2 splashes Angostura Bitters

Method.
1. Pour brandy into glass.
2. Squeeze in lime juice.
3. Add Splenda sugar substitute.
4. Ensure sugar has fully dissolved.
5. Add soda water slowly.
6. Add bitters.
7. Stir. Do not shake.
8. Drink slowly.

Temperance Warning.
Do not drink more than two glasses an evening as an aid to weight loss.

Recipe by Michele Cook.

The reason the cocktail's called a "Brandy Poke in the Eye" is because it is based on the traditional Barbados Rum Punch* recipe of "one sour, two sweet, three strong, four weak". {I've put in a link to a very good website above (click on the title), which should give a picture of the drink you would get in Barbados, plus an actual recipe. Note the measures.}
The full reason for the specific name, "Poke in the Eye", is because after you drink about three of them, you start blinking rapidly as if someone has poked you in your eyes. The only way to stop this blinking from happening is to close your eyes gently for an average, I've found, of about four solid hours.
